As predicted events are causing some stock market turmoil.
Three obvious ones are…
- Covid-19
Confidence in the economy and the government in the UK waxes and wanes. Elsewhere in the world, the data (measured differently in every country) shows the pandemic is entrenched and it will take time to resolve. - Trump v Biden – Or is that Biden v Trump? The US Election is causing jitters on Wall Street. It does not know who will win so uncertainty causes hesitancy, causes market fluctuations which are sometimes extreme.
- Brexit – Reassuring to know that the French and the Germans take the biggest hit if we arrive at “no deal”. That fact is compelling them to compromise.
As stated recently it is a three-part process. First, a “compromise” trade deal followed within 12 months with a hardening of attitudes leading thirdly to the complete severance of the UK from Europe.
The consequences on 1,2, and 3?
Expect volatility BUT the global economy will continue to grow and investment opportunities abound!
Don’t panic Mr Mainwaring!
